BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – FIT looked to complete the sweep of regional opponent Spring Hill as they welcomed them back to Andy Seminick – Les Hall Field for the final game of the weekend series.

Unfortunately, multiple fielding errors cost the team big as they drop the last game of the regional series 13-5.

Getting the nod for the Panthers was senior Drew Beyer who would last four full inning for Florida Tech picking up six Ks versus only 21 batters. His replacement Jake Lane tossed two complete innings in his relief effort allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.

Lane would be replaced by Jordan Murray who struggled and would get pulled before getting an out in favor of Justin Barney. Barney would last till the ninth as he would get the first out of the frame before being substituted for Ryan Allain to close out the game.

Spring Hill would draw first blood in the game as Brennan Fontenot hit a slow ground that would put him out but gave Grayson Williams enough time to reach home safely. However, their lead would not last for long as the Crimson and Gray scored four in the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Sinzenich started the scoring in dramatic fashion as he would hit the church behind left center in his first at-bat of the day bring home Daniel Szpik and himself.

Later in the inning Lake Mary native Kevin Capella would send a shot back up the middle that allowed both Jacob Buser and Raul Quintero too easily cross the plate. The Badgers in the top of the third put up a big inning of their own bringing in four runs to take the back the lead for good. Spring Hill stretched their lead to 7-4 when in the fifth Neil Ring sent a scorcher towards first that was too fast for Buser to handle and gave their runners enough time to cross the plate.

The Badgers bats would heat up again in the top of the seventh when a walk brought one home and later in the frame a grand slam scored the last four bring their lead to 12-4. Spring Hill earned one final run in the top of the ninth. FIT would add another run themselves in the ninth when Szpik doubled to left center allowing pinch hitter Tyler Brown to score the final run of the game.

The Panthers will put this lost behind team as they will turn their focus to SSC foe Nova Southeastern who will come to Melbourne next Friday March 16 for their annual weekend series. You follow the action live for those games at floridatechsports.com or on the SSC Digital Network.
