FHP: 87-year-old Cocoa Man Killed Sunday in Vehicle Crash at Camp Road and U.S. 1

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Florida Highway Patrol with a fatal traffic crash at U.S. 1 and Indian River Drive in Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – An 87-year-old Cocoa man was killed Sunday afternoon about 4:05 p.m. in a vehicle crash at Camp Road and U.S. 1.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was traveling eastbound on Camp Road as Williams Wells, 53, of Rockledge, was driving northbound on U.S. 1.

The Florida Highway Patrol said, according to witnesses, the victim, who was driving a 2010 Honda 4-door vehicle, rolled through the stop sign and into the direct path of Wells, who was driving a 2008 pickup truck.

Wells was taken to Wuesthoff Hospital with minor injuries.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next-of-kin.

This crash remains under investigation.
