BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 2018 edition of “Dancing For the Space Coast,” a unique competition and fundraising event that benefits worthy organizations on the Space Coast, will be held at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center on Saturday, June 2.

Now in its fourth year, this exciting event will feature Space Coast community and business leaders, including Jessica Andre, Ryan Firth, Mary Goodwin, Steve Heron, Rich Hensel, Adrian Laffitte, Micah Loyd, Shayla Murray, Steve Phelps and Rene “Coach P” Plasencia.

Dancing for the Space Coast selects three local charities that are focused on addressing the needs of children, crime prevention and the arts.

“In addition, 10 percent of the event’s proceeds go directly to support the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity, Inc., established to assist Brevard County law enforcement officers and firefighter/paramedics in their time of need.

Charities that will benefit from Dancing for the Space Coast this year include Space Coast Field of Dreams, Crosswinds Youth Services, and Brevard County community theater organizations Cocoa Village Playhouse, Henegar Center for the Arts, Melbourne Civic Theatre, Surfside Playhouse and Titusville Playhouse,

“Please join me for Dancing for the Space Coast and find out what local celebrity has the right moves to rule as Grand Champion of the dance floor,” said Sheriff Ivey.

“It’s an amazing evening to share in great food, laughter, friends and incredible dancing while raising money for deserving Brevard County charitable organizations. The true stars of the event are these dancers who work diligently to raise money for these worthy causes.”

Sheriff Wayne Ivey emcees last year’s Dancing for the Space Coast event. “Proceeds from Dancing for the Space Coast generate funds to support these charities and their incredible commitment to positively impact and strengthen our Brevard County community,” said Sheriff Ivey.

BRAGGING RIGHTS ON THE LINE

Each celebrity dancer will be matched up with a professional dancer as they compete in a ballroom dance – and for bragging rights as the best dancer in Brevard.

During the competition, each dance pair will compete in a choreographed ballroom dance that will be scored by a panel of judges.

During the show, couples will earn scores based on several technical skill factors, but the judges’ scores alone don’t decide the dancer’s final score. Leading up to the actual performance, the dancers will have already scored 60 percent of their points through their fundraising endeavors. CLICK HERE to donate to your favorite dancer.
