Nine Members of the Eastern Florida State Softball Team Named to All-Conference Team

Five Payers named all-Southern Conference

Nine members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the all-conference team on Wednesday.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Nine members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the all-conference team on Wednesday.

Five of the nine were named to the all-Southern Conference first team for the 29-25-1 Titans.

Catcher Brooke Diaz made the first team for the second straight season. The sophomore hit .324 this season 24 RBI and scored 21 times.

Sophomore second baseman Mary Waldron made all-conference for the second straight season, earning first team honors this season. Waldron hit .376 this season with five home runs and 17 stolen bases.

Shortstop Nikki Pennington hit .340 in her first season with the Titans, leading the team with eight home runs and drove in 59 runs and scored 34 times. The freshman also hit six triples.

Sophomore Jordan Lawlis was named to the first team as an at-large player. Lawlis finished the regular season 15-11 with a 2.99 ERA in 154 2/3 innings on the mound and hit .403 in 77 at-bats with 15 RBI and scored 18 times.

Starting pitcher Olivia Everett is one of the four pitchers on the first team. Everett finished her freshman season with a 12-8 record and a 2.95 ERA in 149 1/3 innings.

Third baseman Hannah Crumblish, first baseman Caitlin Meyer, centerfielder Savana Garrison and leftfielder Gabby Orland made the second team.

The Titans will open the FCSAA State Softball Tournament May 3 against unbeaten Chipola College at 4 p.m. at Boombah Soldiers Creek in Longwood.
