organized Pro-Second Amendment Walkout
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Rockledge High School sophomore Chloe Deaton will appear on Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends on Sunday morning at 7:20 a.m. to talk about why she, and fellow student Anna Deleaney, organized a pro-Second Amendment Walkout on Friday morning.
Space Coast Daily first broke the walkout live on its website and Facebook page. The exclusive video coverage has been viewed more than 500,000 times as of Saturday afternoon.
Both students are enrolled in the Rockledge High School Criminal Justice and Legal Studies Academy.
“We were built on certain rights and that was one of the original rights, that we should have the right to bear arms,” said Deaton to the assembly, as she was attired in a black T-shirt that included, “my rights don’t end where your feelings begin,” and an American flag.
Students assembled outdoors at Rockledge High to speak up about maintaining their constitutional rights in the wake of a school district-wide walkout to support Parkland High School students and gun control on March 14.
“I’m pro-Second Amendment,” said Delaney, who is a junior at Rockledge High. “I wouldn’t mind deeper background checks, of course, but the Second Amendment will not be infringed upon.”
Delaney read a quote from former President Ronald Reagan, who at a 1983 banquet for the National Rifle Association said, “The Constitution does not say that government shall decree the right to keep and bear arms. The Constitution says ‘… the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.'”
The event concluded with the group singing Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” as Deaton thanked her fellow students saying, “It gives us hope, because we are the future of America.”
