BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Crosswinds Youth Services announced that the non-profit organization surpassed the goal of adopting 10,000 ducks for the 20th Annual Great Brevard Duck Race, thanks to the phenomenal support of our generous sponsors, duck adopters, duck teams and volunteers.

For 44 years, Crosswinds has been a safety net for young people in crisis and their families in Brevard County who have nowhere else to turn.

“Our goal was to get 10,000 ducks adopted, and three days before the race, 1,000 more ducks had to be shipped in so we could have ducks available for adoption on race day,” said Misty Campbell, Director of Development at Crosswinds Youth Services.

The event raised more than $100,000 in gross revenue that will greatly benefit Crosswinds’ Children’s Shelter and other programs. Additional monies are expected from several other sponsors, which will increase the amount.

The grand prize, a 2018 Honda Fit 2-year lease, courtesy of Space Coast Honda, was won by Lee Ann Halcom.  She was surprised and beyond thrilled when she heard the news and said she worked three jobs and had been driving a 17-year-old car that was given to her and she was in need of a newer car.

There were nine incredible prizes in total and the other top four lucky winners included Jeremy and Cyndi Rose, Charles and Lauren Romeo, Clement Saaltink and Robert Gabordi.

The duck race is supported and underwritten by numerous sponsors, including WFTV 9 Family Connection, Publix Super Market Charities, Lite Rock 99.3, Space Coast Honda, Disney Cruise Line, Walmart, Elusen Inc, Universal Orlando Resort, Jack and Yvette Parker, Victory Casino, Indian River Furniture, Massey Services, Ivey’s Construction, and Seaport Canaveral.
