BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Firefighters helped save a small sandhill crane on Saturday that was injured after being hit by a car.

Titusville Fire Rescue received a report around 5:30 p.m. Saturday about a vehicle crash that involved a bird. A driver found the injured crane and wrapped it in a towel.

When Titusville Fire Rescue arrived on scene, firefighters stayed with the bird, where they eventually transported it back to the station, while they waited for WILD Florida Rescue to pick up the bird.

A spokesperson with Titusville Fire Rescue says the bird appeared to have a broken leg.

Titusville Fire Rescue’s Fire/Medic Russo, Lt./Medic Strong and Driver/Medic Senger all helped the save the small sandhill crane.

No injuries were reported in the vehicle crash.
