Man Struck By Vehicle On I-95 While Trying To Retrieve Ladder On Interstate In Cocoa

Florida Highway Patrol has released more information on a crash Wednesday morning that involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian trying to retrieve a ladder lying on I-95 near SR 524.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol has released more information on a crash Wednesday morning that involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian trying to retrieve a ladder lying on I-95 near SR 524.

According to the report by FHP, 57 -year-old John Hoskins, from Honea Path, South Carolina, was seriously injured when he was hit after trying to move a ladder off the interstate that had fallen out of his pickup truck.

Troopers say the investigation has shown that the driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Heather Flynn from Cocoa, was traveling on the inside lane of I-95 when she attempted to avoid hitting Hoskins.

Hoskins was transported to Holmes Regional for treatment.

Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
