SATELLITE BEACH, Florida – Twenty-five years after graduating from Satellite High, Bobby Pruett has been named principal of the high school.

Pruett, a Melbourne resident, just completed his 20th year with Brevard Public Schools. Most recently, he served as principal of DeLaura Middle in Satellite Beach for three years.

“The chance to come back to where my educational career began is a unique experience,” said Pruett.

“I am looking forward to watching our students grow into young adults and to be there to shake their hand as they graduate and walk across that stage. I am so very fortunate to have been named principal of Satellite and look forward to serving the Satellite High School community.”

Pruett began his career as an exceptional education teacher at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High in Merritt Island and then moved to Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High.

He later served as a dean at Clearlake Middle in Cocoa and as an assistant principal at Jefferson Middle School in Merritt Island, Stone Middle in Melbourne, DeLaura Middle and Viera High.

“I have had the privilege to work with some incredible people. I enjoy sharing in the passion that educators and school staff have for shaping the lives of our students,” Pruett said.

“My greatest accomplishment is being given the opportunity to serve each of the school communities I have been part of over the last 20 years.”

Pruett holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Florida and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to Satellite High, he attended DeLaura Middle and Holland Elementary in Satellite Beach.

His family is also connected to Brevard Public Schools. His wife, Jennifer Pruett, just completed her 20th year as a Croton Elementary teacher. In May, his son graduated high school and his daughter finished her freshman year of high school, both at district schools.
