BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Communications Concepts, Inc, an Emmy winning Digital Media Company in Cape Canaveral, Florida, will for the first time ever present a Video Production Summer Camp for a limited number of students, 10-15 years of age.
Students will meet and interact with experienced film and television professionals who produce videos in and around the Space Center.
Working as teams, campers will produce a short video based on footage they collect during a field trip to the Space Museum. Each student will experience the hands-on aspects of film and TV production.
There are only two one week camps available – the first runs June 18-22 and the second camp runs July 16-20. Each camp is limited to a maximum of 12 students. The cost is $699 and includes a copy of Adobe Premier Elements, a Space Museum video production field trip, and lunch each day. Campers will explore how a camera works and how it captures light to create images, plus participate in classes on:
• Creative and technical writing
• Cameras, lenses and camera operations
• Types of lighting, color temperature and lighting effects
• Audio recording, audio mixing, sound effects and music
• Video editing and special effects
Campers will serve as either a writer, producer, director, camera operator, sound technician, video editor or talent. Most will serve in two or three of these roles during the course of the week.
By the end of camp, each participant will:
• Be familiar with the tools of the film and television industry.
• Have a greater appreciation of web videos, television shows and movies they watch.
• Understand the impact that films and television have on the viewer and how such media can be used to help the world.
• Conceptualize what it takes to create and produce a film or video.
• Recognize the critical importance of teamwork in the film and television industry.
• Realize that hard work and dedication can turn dreams into reality.
• Have a video that they helped produce which will be uploaded to the internet for the world to see.

CCI was founded in 1978 and has been part of the Space Program since its inception. CCI’s space-related projects include supporting coverage of the first Space Shuttle launch for the BBC in April 1981, mission coverage of first Malaysian astronaut in 2008 and the last shuttle launch for the Discovery Networks Science Channel in July 2012.
Not all work by Communications Concepts is space related. Entertainment projects have included producing: “Skating’s Next Star” with Christy Yamaguchi in 2006, “The Great American Car War,” a TV a show that aired on the Velocity Network in 2015, work on the movie “Armageddon” and the Japanese movie, “Space Brothers.”
