BREVARD POLITICS: Jerry Allender, Wayne Justice Reelected To Port Canaveral Commission Seats

ABOVE VIDEO: Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Wayne Justice is serving as the Canaveral Port Authority chairman for 2017. A retired Rear Admiral, Justice’s life changed dramatically when he was selected for the coveted position of military aide to the President of the United States. Commissioner Justice then served both President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton. Wherever the Presidents went, Justice went. He lived in the White House and traveled aboard Air Force One to all four corners of the globe. 

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – As of 12 noon on Friday, with the expiration of the qualifying period to register as a candidate for the 2018 elections, sitting Port Canaveral Commissioners Jerry Allender and Wayne Justice were reelected without opposition to their respective District seats.

For Justice, who was first elected in 2014 to the District 3 seat and is currently chairman, this will be his second four-year term. Allender was first elected to the port commission in 1982 and he then served through 1994. His current term as the District 1 representative on the commission began in 2010.

Justice retired as a two-star Admiral after a 37-year career in the U.S. Coast Guard and is currently a maritime consultant. During his distinguished military career Justice was selected for the coveted position of military aide to the President of the United States, serving both President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.

Allender, a former judge who has practiced law in Brevard County since 1968, is a partner with the law firm of Allender & Allender where he practices in the area of Elder Law.

Tom Weinberg, a two-term District 5 Port Canaveral commissioner, announced in February that we won’t seek re-election. Candidates vying for that open Port Commission seat include Republicans Mac McLouth and Robyn Hattaway, and Democrat Maurice Boudreau.

Other port commissioners, who are not up for reelection until 2020, include Bob Harvey of District 4 and Micah Loyd of District 2.
