BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA  – Jason Arnold is heading back to college as the head baseball coach at Eastern Florida State College.

The Satellite High baseball coach and athletic director takes over for Jeff Tam who went 185-134 in six and a half seasons with the Titans.

The Melbourne High graduate was the pitching coach at Bethune-Cookman and Georgia State before returning to Brevard County to take over the Scorpions program in August of 2012.

“When I left college six years ago, it had nothing to do with not loving college, it had everything to do with being closer to home,” Arnold said. “We have so much family here that we knew it was the right move and I always told my wife if I ever had the opportunity to coach college while still living where all of our family is it would be worth looking into it.”

So when he heard about the opening at Eastern Florida State College, he contacted Associate Vice President of Athletics Jeff Carr.

“Everything he was looking for aligned with what I am as a coach and it just seemed like a good opportunity,” said Arnold, who has already begun recruiting for his first season. “I believe the sky is the limit with this program, the conference is tough and junior college baseball is really good but what we want to do is turn these kids into good, young men and successful members of society.

“On the field, the team is going to play hard and there is going to be no gray area there. We will play hard. I am really excited.”

Arnold has experience at all levels of the game, setting records as a pitcher at UCF and then playing professionally before helping Bethune-Cookman to back-to-back MEAC regular season and tournament championships.

He has also been the pitching coach at Georgia State before returning to Brevard County to take over the Satellite High program.

At Satellite High, Arnold was the 2018 District and Cape Coast Conference Coach of the Year and won two district championships and was the runner-up twice. He was 104-64 in his six seasons with the Scorpions.

Arnold takes over a program that was 26-24 last season and missed the state tournament for the first time in four seasons.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jason Arnold as our new baseball coach, he will add so much to our program and to our athletic department,” Carr said.

“We had over 100 candidates for the position and we really believe that Jason is the man for the job. He is a high-character person that will make an impact on the young men he will coach at Eastern Florida. We can’t wait for Jason to get started.”
