BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Canaveral Port Authority (CPA) completed the purchase of 9.61 acres of Brevard County-owned land at Port Canaveral’s Jetty Park.

With the $862,950 purchase complete as approved unanimously by Port Authority Commissioners in May and accepted by the Brevard County Commission on July 10, the Port Authority now owns all 45 acres of Jetty Park, a popular beachfront public recreational park at the Port’s east end.

“We are delighted this agreement with Brevard County is completed and the Port can now look ahead at sustaining one of the region’s premier recreational destinations,” said Port CEO Captain John Murray.

“We are proud of Jetty Park and remain committed to continuing to welcome visitors from our surrounding community and all across Florida, the U.S. and the world.”

The Canaveral Port Authority owns and operates Jetty Park, which opened in 1966 and now includes campgrounds, fishing pier, pristine beach with full-time year-round lifeguards, adjacent public boat ramps, restaurants and other visitor amenities. The park has become a favorite location to watch rocket launches from nearby Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
