City of Palm Bay Cold Night Shelter Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Set Aug. 4 at Mosaic Church

COMMUNITY EVENT SPOTLIGHT

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA  – The City of Palm Bay invites the public to a community celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the newly established City of Palm Bay Cold Night Shelter at the Mosaic Church on Saturday, August 4 at 9:30 am.

Confirmed ribbon cutters include Rob Medina representing Congressman Bill Posey, Joe Howard representing State Representative Randy Fine,  Palm Bay City Council Members Tres Holton, Brian Jacob Anderson, and Harry Santiago Jr., Nancy Peltonen, President of the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, and Ken Stackpoole Board President of the Brevard Homeless Coalition.

After holding the second Poverty Solutions Workshop on May 29, the community sprung into action with unprecedented collaboration on this project.

In less than 60 days partnerships were formed with Ascension Catholic Church, Centerpointe Church, Tomoka Christian Church, Mosaic Church and the Salvation Army of Melbourne.  This project also has numerous community sponsors including the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Palm Bay Rotary, the Brevard Homeless Coalition, Volunteers of America, Tapestry Sharing Ministries and Community of Hope.

The Ribbon Cutting ceremony will also include a check presentation from Tomoka Christian Church to the Brevard Homeless Coalition, remarks by city officials.
