BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – For the fourth year in a row, Port Canaveral will host the ‘Fireworks Before the Fireworks’ on July 3, one of the area’s most popular Fourth of July events with fireworks and family-centered festivities on the lawn of the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral.

With events scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m., the evening will feature a family fun “street fair” with food, drinks, live music, face painting and other activities for kids provided by local vendors and businesses.

The fireworks display will begin shortly after sunset.

The Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) will lead an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. with the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem. Admission is free, and all guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

VIP viewing tickets for the Exploration Tower are $20 if purchased in advance. Go to visitportcanaveral.com to sign up.

Visitors to the Cove restaurants can also utilize the free parking lot located on Mullet Road. Event Parking costs $5, beginning at 5 p.m. – see below for more parking details.

The Port Canaveral fireworks over the harbor event will take place along Mullet Road, which will be closed between Dave Nisbet Drive and Glenn Cheek Drive.

A comprehensive special event parking and traffic flow plan was jointly developed by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Canaveral Fire Rescue and Canaveral Port Authority Public Safety to improve arrival at the Port before the event and exiting the Port, once the fireworks display concludes.

The traffic flow plan will have road closures beginning at 10 a.m. and include one-way directional exiting of Port roads beginning at 9 p.m..

Guests who plan on attending the event are strongly encouraged to review the new parking and traffic flow plan and make their travel and parking plans accordingly.

The new parking and traffic event plan includes electronic and fixed signs located on SR 528 and SR A1A, and on roadways and intersections at the Port to direct motorists arriving to the Port for the festivities.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies, parking attendants and staff will be located at key traffic intersections around the Port to assist motorists. Anyone planning to attend the event are strongly encouraged to review the new parking and traffic flow plan and select the parking lot that offers the most efficient exit to the roadway needed for their return trip. For example, if a motorist wants to return to Merritt Island, park at Lot A or B; or, if you’ll be returning to Beachside communities, park in Lot B, C, D, E, or F.

Guests parking in the Cove area should expect longer delays.
