BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Business Voice Political Committee Board of Directors voted this month to support Robyn Hattaway in her bid to serve as District 5 representative on the Canaveral Port Authority.

“Port Canaveral is the economic engine that drives much of our regional economy,” states the organization’s Chairman, Larry McIntyre.

“As an attorney experienced in business and contract law, Robyn will provide dynamic new leadership to the Commission as they navigate the rapid growth of diverse industries at the Port and manage operations within overlapping federal, state, and local laws.”

Port Authority Commissioners manage the over $75 million dollar budget, set policy and work closely with the Port CEO, who is charged with handling operations. Port Canaveral provides roughly $1.1 billion in revenue for businesses providing services
at the Port, in addition to providing thousands of jobs and serving as the hub for our thriving tourism industry.

The Canaveral Port Authority is also a special taxing district, however, it hasn’t been used in 30 years. The business community is looking for leaders who understand the importance of sound fiscal management – protecting revenue streams and managing debt – as necessary to avoid the need to levy taxes on the people of Brevard County.

“Robyn is focused on the long-term viability of the Port’s main revenue sources,” states McIntyre. “Her commitment to smart, managed growth makes her the right choice for District 5.”

Robyn Hattaway is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, and Emory University School of Law. As a small business owner and a volunteer in several organizations, she has strong ties to the Brevard community.
