Deadly Shooting In Melbourne Monday Night Being Investigated As Homicide

Melbourne Police have opened a homicide investigation after authorities found ‘a male in his 20s’ with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at Holmes Regional Medical Center Monday night.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police have opened a homicide investigation after authorities found ‘a male in his 20s’ with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at Holmes Regional Medical Center Monday night.

Police first received reports of a man shot around 9:36 p.m. near the 2500 block on Lipscomb St. in Melbourne.

When police arrived they found a man shot in his torso and rescue crews rushed him to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment, where he later died.

Investigators say initial information indicates that the victim was involved in an altercation with another person when he was shot.

Melbourne Police Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators have been interviewing potential witnesses and gathering evidence.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released
