CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA (HurricaneSports) – The Miami Hurricanes checked in at No. 8 in the preseason Associated Press poll released Monday, marking their highest position in the preseason poll since 2004.

The Hurricanes, who ended last season ranked No. 13 by the Associated Press, are the second-highest ranked team in the ACC behind No. 2 Clemson.

Miami was also ranked No. 8 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll released earlier in August, marking the team’s highest preseason ranking in that poll since 2005. Miami is ranked in the top 10 of both major polls entering the season for the first time since 2005.

The Hurricanes return 14 starters and 44 letter-winners from a team that won 10 games for the first time since 2003 and advanced to the ACC Championship Game for the first time in program history in 2017. The Hurricanes played in the Capital One Orange Bowl for the first time since 2003 and competed in a New Year’s Six bowl game for the first time since the inception of the College Football Playoff.
