BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team finished off a big weekend of soccer with a 6-0 win over No. 19 Johnson County Community College Sunday evening at Titan Soccer Complex.

The Titans, who begin the season No. 4 in the NJCAA Division I preseason poll, got goals from freshmen Ali Tosches and Morgan Miller in the first 13 minutes in the contest and headed into halftime with that 2-0 lead.

“I was disappointed with the first half, we gave the ball away too much and were just lackadaisical and there was no movement off the ball, we were just kind of going through the motions. I was very frustrated and I let them know that,” Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer coach Jeff Carr said. “We got a little more organized, little more movement off the ball and didn’t play selfish, had combination plays and that created more chances. I was pleased with the effort and we were able to finish it out.”

Sophomore Klesha Darroux hit a nice shot with 35 minutes remaining to make it 3-0. Then the team seemed to hit their stride, scoring three times in the final 12 minutes. Sophomore Cristina Garriga scored twice and Ebony Wiseman added a goal for the Titans who are now 2-0 on the season. It was Wiseman’s third goal of the season.

“I am pleased overall, we scored six times in each game and got the clean sheet tonight,” Carr said.

“There is always that bit of unknown, we played up and down in the preseason and then you wonder when the games are real what they will do. I was really pleased with the first night and this second half, so I am pleased we opened the season 2-0 and hopefully we continue to get better as we move forward.”

The Titans will host Southwestern Illinois College on Friday night at 8 p.m. Admission is free to games at Titan Soccer Complex.
