Florida Named Most Dangerous State For Bicyclists, 95 Deaths To-Date For 2018

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (FOX 35) – The Wall Street Journal is looking at federal data when it comes to bike safety. They found that Florida is the most dangerous state and the numbers are scary.

According to the report, 840 bicyclists died in crashes nationwide in 2016. That’s the most since 1991. Here in Florida, there is more than six deaths per 100,00 people. That is nearly 60% higher than the next closest state. Last year, 116 cyclists died in Florida, which is the lowest since 2010.

Data through last Sunday shows that there has already been 95 deaths in 2018 alone.

This puts the state on pace for 130 this year.
