SYRACUSE, NEW YORK (Seminoles) – As difficult as things had been in the first half, Florida State went into the break of Saturday’s game at Syracuse still well within range of the Orange, carrying a six-point deficit and the knowledge that, with just a single play, the Seminoles could take the lead.

Then Syracuse’s backup quarterback entered the game.

With star QB Eric Dungey sidelined by an injury suffered late in the second quarter, Syracuse freshman Tommy DeVito threw for 144 yards and engineered two second-half touchdown drives that sealed the Orange’s 30-7 victory over Florida State on a hot afternoon inside the Carrier Dome.

The loss is FSU’s first to Syracuse in the last 11 meetings, and first since 1966.

The Seminoles (1-2, 0-2 ACC) will look to get back on track Saturday next week against Northern Illinois.
