OBITUARY: Doreen Prater Passed Away Suddenly Aug. 30 at Her Residence at Age 77

Doreen Prater, 77, passed away suddenly at her residence, on Thursday, August 30, 2018. After the passing of her first husband Doreen remarried and returned to the United States where she spent 22 great years divided between Florida and Alabama.

MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA – Doreen Prater, 77, passed away suddenly at her residence, on Thursday, August 30, 2018.

Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Élodie (nee Dupuis) Doucet.

Doreen will be sadly missed by her son, Patrick Coughlin of Fernie, BC; her sister, Elizabeth Jaillet (John JR.) of Moncton; her three brothers, Robert (Cathy) of Fredericton, Leonard (Mary) of Newmarket, ON and Paul (Lorraine) of Peterborough, ON; also by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Bernard Coughlin and John Prater; two sisters, Pauline Cloud and Eileen Brown; two brothers, Norman and William.

Doreen will be remembered for her zest for life, unwavering devotion to her religion, a passion for singing and dedication to her family.

After graduating high school, Doreen moved to Boston where she worked for many years at U.S. Steel before meeting her first husband and returning to Canada to start her family.

After the passing of her first husband Doreen remarried and returned to the United States where she spent 22 great years divided between Florida and Alabama.

As per request, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe where she will rest in peace with her twin sister and parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial donations to CNIB, The Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
