Vehicle Burglary Suspect Quickly Nabbed By Titusville Police After Found Hiding In Apartment

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police have arrested a suspect who was wanted for a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of Dollar General Store, located at 1440 Harrison Street in Titusville.

The suspect is identified as 22-year-old Tyrone Laffette Jones Jr. from Titusville.

Police say the investigation has so far revealed that around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Jones reached into open passenger-side window of the victim’s car, took the victim’s purse and then fled on foot to a nearby apartment complex.

After nearly an hour, police located the suspect hiding in one of the apartments and arrested him without any incident.

All of the contents inside the woman’s purse and the purse were found by police.

No injuries occurred in the incident.

“Residents can rest easier knowing that the suspect is in custody,” said Titusville Police Lieutenant Chris DeLoach.

“Officers have been extremely vigilant and proactive due to similar crimes occurring in this area over the last few months,” added DeLoach.

Jones is being held at the Brevard County Jail with a $17,000 bond.
