BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA FLORIDA – On Saturday, Nov. 3, The Groove Shack will showcase several of its bands at the 32nd Annual Space Coast State Fair at Space Coast Daily Park in Viera.
As a veteran of the Brevard County music scene, Brock Wollard recognized the need for a performance-based music school for kids and teens in the area.
Seeking to deviate from the traditional format of a single instructor and student, Wollard’s goal was to create a unique environment where students would learn by playing with others.
As a result, The Groove Shack was launched in the fall of 2017 and has since been an incubator for aspiring young musicians on the Space Coast.
Local favorite The Spring will also be joining and headlining the lineup.
“We’re very excited about this event,” said Wollard, who is also a drumline instructor at Satellite High and performs with Konglom and national touring artist Beebs.
“I’m honored to be working with such a talented group of kids and look forward to showcasing some of the best up and coming bands Brevard has to offer.”
The Groove Shack is designed to take students from the lesson room to the stage, developing both confidence and musicianship with programs designed for all skill levels and ages.
Once bands are polished and ready to perform, they are booked at some of the most popular venues in the area.
The show at the Space Coast State Fair will begin at 7 p.m. and include the following lineup:
Snails – an indie-surf-pop-punk quartet and newest group to form under the Groove Shack band program.
Brain Junk – a funk rock band from Satellite Beach that plays originals as well as covers from a wide range of artists including The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Meters and Herbie Hancock.
Dreamy Youth – an indie rock trio featuring Jordan Greaves and siblings Liam and Bella Hanney. Greaves (singer/bass/songwriter) is a former member of Good Luck Audrey and has previously performed at local and national venues across Florida.
Bella (guitar) has been playing for over 5 years and has a style largely rooted in blues. Liam (percussion) has made All-County Jazz Band Ensemble multiple years in a row and has a passion for many genres of music. Dreamy Youth is also part of The Groove Shack’s Artist Development Program (ADP), which provides support and management to seasoned bands who are ready to take their act to the next level.
The Spring – members Manny Fawcett (rhythm guitar/vocals), Matthew Rigsby (lead guitar/vocals), Gabriel Ottomanelli (bass) and Levi Tate (percussion) have fused together vastly different styles to create a unique sound that has permeated throughout the local music scene.
Since its founding last year, the band has attracted a loyal following in Central Florida. This past March, The Spring was named the winner of the 2018 WFIT Garage Band Contest. They also recently released a four-song EP entitled “Ebb and Flow,” which was formed under a year’s worth of passion and creativity.
The Groove Shack’s “Rising Talent Showcase” is included with the $15 fair admission, which also includes unlimited rides and shows.
