BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis player Frederik Oervad finished runner-up in the ITA Regional Championships in Tifton, Georgia on Sunday.

The freshman from Denmark won his semifinal match with ASA Miami’s Josh Rose in three sets but fell in the championship match to ASA Miami’s Toru Horie.

Oervad could still earn an at-large bid to the ITA National Championship Tournament in Surprise, Arizona Nov 7-11.

Teammate Fabricio Galvan lost to Rose in the quarterfinals but teamed with Adriel Azucey to win a doubles match Sunday 8-3.

The Titans have never had a men’s tennis player qualify for the ITA National Championship Tournament and Oervad is the first player to play in the final for Eastern Florida State College.
