Brevard Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team Among Best In Annual International SWAT Round-Up Competition

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team placed 6th overall in the International SWAT Round-Up Competition last week in Orlando, Florida.

The annual competition drew more than 50 SWAT teams from around the world who all came to Central Florida to claim the title of SWAT Round-Up Champion.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office participating SWAT team members included Commander J.J. Woolsey, Lt. Brad Thomas, Agt. Rick Clements, Cpl. Zach Brown, Agt. Chaise Goff, Agt. Chris Neel, Agt. Jon Amick, Agt. Alex Sorokin and Agt. Keaton Mauldin.

SWAT Round-Up is much more than just a training event or intense competition, as it is also an opportunity for SWAT Team members from across the globe to come together to learn from one another and to build relationships that will last a lifetime.

While the competition is a fun part of the event, the training and education program are a vital component of the SWAT Round-Up experience as the training is conducted by nationally renowned instructors who are teaching SWAT Operators to save lives.

The competition events are geared for simulation of real-life scenarios and are intended to challenge the members to work together as a unit. The various events place a strong emphasis on weapon expertise, physical fitness, resource utilization and teamwork!

I could not be more proud of our SWAT Team members for placing so high in this competition and for their dedication to protect our citizens.

When you consider that they competed against teams from all over the world and placed 6th overall, it is a true testament of their abilities and strength as a team.
