DOD Releases ID of Soldier Killed In Afghanistan After Gunfire Fight With Enemy Forces

Sgt. Leandro A.S. Jasso, 25, died Saturday

Sgt. Leandro A.S. Jasso, 25, from Leavenworth, Washington, died Nov. 24, 2018, in Garmsir District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds sustained while engaging enemy forces in Khash Rod District, Nimruz Province, Afghanistan. He enlisted in the Army in August 2012.

AFGHANISTAN – The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

Sgt. Leandro A.S. Jasso, 25, from Leavenworth, Washington, died Nov. 24, 2018, in Garmsir District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds sustained while engaging enemy forces in Khash Rod District, Nimruz Province, Afghanistan.

The incident is under investigation.

Jasso was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
