BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Carry Region 9’s next “Open Carry Fishing Get Together” is set Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Sebastian Inlet State Park North Entrance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We will be open carrying our long guns and handguns under Florida Statues 790.25 (3)(h) while engaged in fishing hunting or camping, and going to and from the event when it is lawful to open carry a firearm,” said event organizer Michael Taylor.
Sebastian Inlet State Park is located at 9700 South Highway A1A in Melbourne Beach. The entry fee is $4 for a single occupant vehicle or $8 for a vehicle with up to eight occupants.
“Please join us on the pier for some open carry fishing, which is some of the best fishing in the region right now,” said Taylor.
Taylor said the gathering is for anyone who wants to participate, as they will fish and open carry in an effort to raise awareness of Florida’s current laws.
“We invite like-minded people to join us and take a little time to fish, relax and most of all, responsibly exercise our constitutional rights as Floridians,” said Taylor.
“Make sure you bring your valid free Florida Shoreline Salt Water Fishing License, pole, and/or handgun in a holster or long gun on a sling. We ask that if you want to open carry that you securely holster your handgun or keep your long gun on safe without a chambered round.”
