BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech football’s Trent Chmelik has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Football Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Chmelik is a First Team All-District selection and will advance Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

The Panthers’ starting quarterback boasts a 3.56 GPA as an Astronomy & Astrophysics major.

Chmelik, a product of Clearwater, Florida, has started all 11 games for Florida Tech this season and helped guide the Crimson & Gray to the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second time in program history.

The junior has completed 189-of-305 passes for 2,452 yards and 19 touchdowns. He ranks second in the GSC in completion percentage (.620) and is third in the GSC in passing yards and passing efficiency (144.2).
