FHP Identifies Victim in Melbourne Beach Fatal Crash That Left Three Seriously Injured

Crash Happened on State Road A1A at Sable Ridge Lane Friday at 2:50 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol officials have identified 23-year old passenger Kavika Chuch of Orlando as the victim of a fatal two-car crash early Friday morning that seriously injured three other people.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA– Florida Highway Patrol officials have identified a 23-year old woman from Orlando as the victim in a fatal two-car crash early Friday morning that seriously injured three other people on State Road A1A at Sable Ridge Lane.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kim Montes, for an unknown reason, Kyah Muntz, 19, of Melbourne Beach was driving a two-door Volkswagen south in the northbound lanes on State Road A1A when she struck the other vehicle, a 2013 Chevy Cruze, head-on and seriously injuring the vehicle’s driver.

Muntz, as well as the driver of the Chevy Cruze, Katlyn Duncan, 21, of Tampa, and the other passenger, Grant Luker, 28, of Orlando,  were all transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

According to Lt. Montes, Kavika Chuch, 23, of Orlando, was also transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she died as a result of her injuries.

Charges are pending against Muntz as the cause of the accident and whether or not alcohol played a role remains under investigation by the FHP, according to Lt. Montes.
