1. “Home Alone”

On top is Home Alone where a young Kevin McCallister has to protect his home from two burglars – using slightly creative methods – when he is accidentally left home alone during Christmas vacation.

Released on November 16th, 1990, it was the number one film at the box office for 12 weeks straight.

The production has a budget of $17 million, and the final box office was $285.76 million.

2. “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”

Inspired by the 1966 animated version of the timeless Dr. Seuss book that follows the Grinch as he discovers the true meaning of Christmas, this live-action version stars Jim Carey as the Grinch himself and was directed by Ron Howard.

The film has grossed $260.04 million at the domestic box office since Universal released it in 2000.

3. “The Polar Express”

Coming in third at $183.37 million domestic gross earnings is “The Polar Express.” This animated film is about a magical train that’s making its journey to the North Pole.

The film stars Tom Hanks as one of the many voice actors.

The film was released in 2004 and is one of several films released by Warner Brothers that make the list of top-ranking holiday films.

4. “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”

In the sequel to Home Alone, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) finds himself Lost in New York. Filmed in places like the Plaza Hotel – where  President Donald Trump makes a guest appearance – and “Duncan’s Toy Chest” – a toy store modeled after the infamous now-closed F.A.O. Schwartz on Fifth Avenue – Kevin faces the “Wet Bandits” yet again.

Though not as successful as the first movie, the final U.S. box office gross was $173.59 million.

5. “Elf”

This festive favorite stars Will Ferrell as a human who believes he is an elf, and the film follows him as he comes to New York City to meet his biological father.

This film takes third spot, having a gross income of $173.4 million at the domestic box office.

It was released in 2003 by New Line Cinema.
