Rick Lacey Reelected to Second Term as Chair of Brevard Republican Executive Committee

Rick Lacey was reelected to a second term as Chair of the Brevard Republican Executive Committee during the secret-ballot election held at the Brevard County School Board building in Viera on Wednesday evening.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Rick Lacey was reelected to a second term as Chair of the Brevard Republican Executive Committee despite a dozen Brevard elected officials, and current and former Brevard Republican Executive Committee Board Members, issuing an Open Letter for Lacey to step aside.

Lacey defeated challenger Matt Nye 95-59 during the secret-ballot election held at the Brevard County School Board building in Viera on Wednesday evening.

Lacey was nominated by Brevard County Commissioner Curt Smith.

Others nominated for Brevard Republican Executive Committee Chair included Josiah Gattle, who was nominated by Precinct Committeewoman Barbara Menillo; Matt Nye, nominated by Brevard County Commissioner Bryan Lober; and Rep. Randy Fine, nominated by Nick Tomboulides, and seconded by Cheryl Lankes.

During his nomination speech, Gattle declared that he was withdrawing from the race and endorsing Matt Nye.

Also elected during the meeting were Mark Hutchins, Vice-chair; Paul Oddo, secretary; Sharon Rose, Treasurer; Cindy Roberts, District 1 chair; John Weiler, District 2 chair; Joanne Solley-Hansen, District 3 chair; Susan Hammerling-Hodgers, District 4 chair; and Pat Fowler, District 5 chair.
