Principal: no imminent threat to Viera High School

Viera High School sent out an email to parents Thursday about “circulating rumors regarding a possible threat to Viera High.”

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Viera High School sent out an email to parents Thursday about “circulating rumors regarding a possible threat to Viera High.”

Viera’s acting principal Sarah Robinson squashed the rumors in a email saying there is no imminent threat, adding that they are taking the situation seriously and have handed it over law enforcement to investigate.

Below is the email sent out by Viera High School:

I want to address circulating rumors regarding a possible (yet unsubstantiated) threat to Viera High School. School administration contacted law enforcement and district security as a precaution upon learning of this matter, which we are taking seriously.

We want you to know that students are safe and there is no imminent threat. Law enforcement is investigating the matter and there will be a greater police presence at school today — again, as a precaution.

We strongly discourage parents from checking out students early and want to stress the importance of NOT circulating unsubstantiated threats. The school is following normal operations and we will update our families if anything further information becomes available.

Thank you,

– Sarah Robinson, Acting Principal
