BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A Daytona Beach man turned himself into the Brevard County Jail on Thursday for leaving a fatal hit-and-run crash in Cocoa on February 15, 2016.

Darel James Adams, 29, was arrested after he struck and killed 39-year-old Jason Rodeghier, who was jogging on Satellite Blvd. near Dean Ave. around 5:15 a.m.

The suspect, Adams, then left the crash scene in his car.

After Rodeghier’s didn’t return from his jog, his girlfriend went looking for him where she discovered his dead body around 7 a.m. that morning.

“Two days later, the vehicle was located behind the suspect’s house after a tip,” said Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.

“It appeared to investigators that the vehicle had been tampered with, in order to conceal the evidence. Evidence from the vehicle was submitted to the lab and after, over two years of investigating by FHP and the Brevard State’s Attorney office, a driver  (Adams) has been arrested.”
