BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Runners and walkers of all skill levels are encouraged to race through Brevard Zoo for a “Terrapin Trot” on Saturday, February 9.

Organized by the Running Zone Foundation, the Terrapin Trot 3k will be the 13th annual race held at the Zoo. The events have thus far generated $87,000 for the Zoo’s animal wellness, conservation and education programs.

“We’ve been holding these runs since 2007,” said Michelle Smurl, director of animal programs at the Zoo and a co-organizer of the 3k.

“Running Zone does such a wonderful job every year making sure everyone has a great time, regardless of how fast they’re going.”

Participants who can finish in under 20 minutes should opt for the 7 a.m. race, while those who need a little more time can begin at 7:35 a.m.

A free “kiddie run” will follow.

All participants receive 50 percent off Zoo admission on the day of the event (race number required) and the chance to win a $500 Disney gift card.

CLICK HERE to register, or in person at the Zoo from 6 to 6:45 a.m. on the day of the race.
