A Florida woman apparently posted on her Facebook page that the memorial service of a police dog was a great venue for a mass shooting.
The Boca Raton woman found herself arrested by deputies after posting the comment on the social media site.
Jill Hoffman, 66, now faces a charge of making a written threat to kill or conduct a mass shooting.
It has been reported that Ms. Hoffman was upset because she believed that deputies were responsible for the dog’s death, and this statement has led to a judge ordering a mental health evaluation for Ms. Hoffman.
The dog, who was called Cigo, was sadly killed during a shootout on Christmas Eve as Palm Beach County Sherriff’s Office deputies went head to head with two suspects outside the Mall at Welling Green, and it is believed that Cigo was the one factor that saved the lives of the deputies that were carrying out their duties.
After it was announced that there was to be a memorial service for the brave police dog on Facebook, a user calling themselves Michael R. Reed posted the mass shooting comment.
It was then determined by the police that the Michael R. Reed account was actually operated by Ms. Hoffman, which was confirmed by her family members who knew of her alias.
In fact, there were over a hundred aggressive and eventually threatening posts by Ms. Hoffman.
Comments like “I hope all of you are the first to be shot” in response to a post about active shooter training for the public, and “How about building yourselves coffins and jumping in them” in response to a post about deputies building a Santas’ mailbox for children.
Facebook represents a continually evolving platform for marketing and communication channels, with most of us now having excess to either a PC or more likely a smartphone.
There are over 2.27 billion monthly active Facebook users worldwide which make Facebook statistically far too big to ignore and with 1.15 billion mobile daily active users smartphone usage has definitely had a significant effect.
Being able to source your bank, eBay, YouTube, new casino websites other games, music and so much more via a mobile device has put the world at our fingertips and we have embraced new technology with open arms.
If you can remember way back when (it really isn’t that long ago) when playing a game was quite frankly an awful experience, never mind trusting your games not to crash halfway through. Now the experience is completely different as games are of exceptional quality played on devices that have superior graphics and audio quality.
Once more because of the advancement in the technology then being able to make a payment online is now safe and secure, something that could not be said a few years ago. Sites now have to make sure their banking methods have more than one layer of encryption and this has ensured personal safety and security.
There will always be those like Ms. Hoffman who abuse social media but there are more users that enjoy their social media sites and the internet as a whole in a far more positive way.
