Melbourne Man Injured After Shooter Opens Fire Inside Jasmine Cove Apartment Complex

31-year-old shooting victim suffered non-life threatening injuries

Melbourne Police are investigating a Saturday night shooting that injured one person at the Jasmine Cove apartment complex near the 800 block of E. University Blvd.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a Saturday night shooting that injured one person at the Jasmine Cove apartment complex near the 800 block of E. University Blvd.

Police say the victim is identified as a 31-year-old man and he was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation has revealed that the victim was walking in the Jasmine Cove apartment complex when the shooter approached him and shot ‘at least one round’ at the victim’s leg, according to investigators.

The man who was shot reportedly hid under an SUV until police arrived.

“I heard three shots and I heard the crying out,” said a neighbor, who spoke with WFTV and didn’t want to be identified.

The shooter was described as wearing all black clothing.

Melbourne Police Crime Scene Investigators and detectives are still investigating the shooting incident. All other suspect information is unknown at this time.
