Eastern Florida State Sweeps Doubleheader Against St. Johns River At Titan Softball Complex

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College softball team picked up their first sweep of the season on Sunday, defeating St. Johns River 8-3 and 12-4.

In Game 1, the Titans got on the board first when freshman Madison Neuhaus hit a two-run double in the second inning, scoring Alice Gannaway and Jilana Figueroa-Rodriguez.

St. Johns River would tie the game in the top of the fifth inning, but Nikki Pennington led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run, her second in two games this spring. Hailey Profeta had an RBI double to give the Titans a 4-2 lead. The Titans would score four times in the sixth inning highlighted by Emily Bartlett’s two-run single.

It was more than enough for starting pitcher Katelyn Wilfert who allowed three runs and struck out three for her second win of the season.

Game 2 was all Titans as they defeated St. Johns River 12-4 in five innings. With two on and two out in the first inning, Bartlett ripped a two-run single and scored on a bases-loaded walk as Eastern Florida State College took a 3-1 lead. The Titans would score two runs in both the second and third innings, add another in the fourth to lead 8-2.

St. Johns River would score twice in the top of the fifth inning, but the Titans would end the game with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

McKinleigh Millard picked up her first win of the season.

The Titans will be back at Titan Softball Complex Thursday afternoon, hosting Santa Fe College at 2 p.m.
