BOCA RATON, FLORIDA – Florida Tech softball (8-2, 1-0 SSC) put its six win streak on the line as it hit the road to take on a tough opponent in Lynn (8-3, 0-1 SSC). Tech came out victorious in a close 2-1 game that ended the Fighting Knights seven game win streak.

Melanie Murphy (3-2) tallied her third win in as many starts as the senior ace tossed six complete innings and only allowed one run on six hits and struck out four of the 27 batters faced.

Tina Velazquez Rolon (four saves) came into close out the contest as she did not give up either a run or hit during her one inning of work.

Florida Tech put the first run on the board early as a Velazquez Rolon (eight RBIs) grounded out, in the top of the first inning, which pushed Xiarysse Emerenciana (nine runs) across the plate.

A double by Cheyenne Nelson (three RBIs) drove home Lexi Betterman (two runs) for the winning run in the fifth inning. Lynn ended the Panthers chance of a shutout in the bottom of the sixth.

Florida Tech will look to sweep the Fighting Knights Saturday, Feb. 16, as the team will play the final two games of the weekend series. First pitch at the Lynn Softball Field is set for noon ET.
