Larry Acosta, 59, arrested

Melbourne police said the 59-year-old murder suspect Larry Acosta is homeless and his sister had taken him in.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA (WFTV) – A Melbourne man was arrested and charged with murdering his sister after an altercation led to her death, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Melbourne police said the 59-year-old murder suspect is homeless and his sister had taken him in.

The suspect told police he went to the store and returned to his sister’s apartment to find the door open and her on the floor.

But police said his story didn’t add up.

The investigation began Monday, at an apartment complex on Post Road in Melbourne.

Police said Friday that 60-year-old Virginia Richardson’s death was suspicious right from the start.

On Friday afternoon, Larry Acosta saw a judge on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the beating death of his sister on Monday.
