Police Arrest Suspect Who Stole Multiple Bicycles From City of Titusville Welcome Center

Police have arrested Omar Rashaw Sims, 36, for the burglary of the downtown City of Titusville Welcome Center where he stole approximately $3,000 worth of high-end bicycles.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Police have arrested a Titusville man responsible for the burglary of the downtown City of Titusville Welcome Center where he stole approximately $3,000 worth of high-end bicycles.

The suspect has been identified 36-year-old Omar Rashaw Sims.

According to the investigation, Titusville Police responded to a report of an overnight burglary on Sunday around 9:45 a.m. at the Coast-to-Coast Bicycle Company, a retailer within the Welcome Center.

Investigators were able to obtain the surveillance footage which showed Sims entering the store through an attached public restroom door at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

“The suspect (Sims) entered and exited the business several times stealing 7 bicycles with the assistance of an unidentified male accomplice,” said a spokesperson with the Titusville Police Department.

“The suspect (Sims) was located at the intersection of Harrison Street and Hopkins Avenue, positively identified and arrested without incident on Monday around 1 p.m..”

Sims has been charged with five felonies that include: 4 counts of Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure and 1 count of Grand Theft.

The accomplice is still at large, police say.

Sims is being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $22,000 bond.
