BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This week, through the next 3 to 4 weeks, residents living north of Pineda Causeway in Melbourne and in Viera who are supplied with reclaimed water from Brevard County, should expect outages to their reclaimed water service.

The expansion project, currently underway at the South Central Wastewater Treatment Facility in Viera will be undergoing process changes during this time.

On Wednesday, the new section of the treatment facility will be online; rerouting flow from the public into the new section.

It is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks for the quality of the treated water to be up to the standards that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires for reclaimed water; meaning the reclaimed water supply to this area will not be supplied until tests confirm the reclaimed water is in accordance with DEP standards.

The Reclaimed Water hotline will be kept up to date as work progresses.
