SPACE COAST DAILY TV: The Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson was at the 2019 Satellite Invitational where 19 schools participated in track and field events. Enjoy the “sights and sounds” of the event.

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson was at the 2019 Satellite Invitational last week where 19 schools participated in track and field events.

Satellite High School includes grades 9 through 12 and was founded in 1962 during the early days of the NASA Space Program.

Highly rated in both academics and athletics, Satellite High has been rated an A-rated school since 2003 and has won the following state championships:

• Softball: 1982 and 1990.
• Baseball: 1986.
• Men’s Swimming: 1996 Class 5A championship, 1999 Class 3A championship and 2005 Class 2A championship.
• Girls’ Swimming: 2004 Class 2A championship, 2005 Class 2A championship and 2006 Class 2A championship.
• Girls’ Cross Country: 2005 Class 3A championship, 2006 Class 3A championship and 2007 Class 3A championship.
• Girls’ Soccer: 2002 Class 3A championship (29-1-1, finished No. 5 in the nation), 2003 Class 3A championship (27-2-0), 2007 Class 5A championship. Reached Final Four from 1995–1998, 2002–2005 and 2007-2009.

Among Satellite High School notable alumni include pro soccer player and Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame inductee Ashlyn Harris; pro surfers C. J. Hobgood and twin brother of Damien Hobgood; Olympic softball player Kelly Kretschman; Major League Baseball pitcher Matt Skrmetta; and All-Pro NFL player Leonard Weaver.
