BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting in Mims that involved a homeowner shooting two masked home invaders on Thursday.

The two home invaders have died, according to Tod Goodyear of the Brevard Sheriff’s Office.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the shooting happened on West Court near US-1 around 12:20 p.m. after two men in masks entered the home to commit a robbery.

One of the residents inside house at the time of the break-in grabbed a gun and shot both intruders, according to deputies.

One of the suspects died at the scene, while the other died at the hospital.

The identities of the men killed have not yet been released.

“Right now, it appears it is a case of them defending themselves in the home,” Brevard County Sheriff’s Spokesperson Tod Goodyear said.

The homeowner who shot the two intruders is cooperating with investigators.
