Aircraft Crashes into Sykes Creek Shortly After Takeoff From Merritt Island Airport

First Flight responds to trauma alert
BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue has reported a plane crash at Merritt Island Airport, located at 900 Airport Road, Saturday morning about 9 a.m.
The small aircraft crashed into Sykes Creek shortly after takeoff.
A trauma alert was issued by Brevard County Fire Rescue and First Flight responded to transport at least one victim.
Officials did not provide information on the number of victims or the cause of the crash.
