UPDATE: Southbound I-95 Open, Northbound I-95 Remains Closed Near SR 528 After Two Crashes Hours Apart

Two crashes near the same area in a few hours

Brevard Fire Rescue crews have responded to another vehicle crash on I-95 near the scene of Friday morning’s crash.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Fire Rescue crews have responded to another vehicle crash on I-95 at SR 528 near the scene of Friday morning’s crash in Cocoa.

The most recent crash shutdown southbound I-95 briefly on I-95 which closed I-95 in both directions. Southbound lanes on I-95 have since been reopened, but traffic still remains backed up.

With northbound I-95 still closed from this morning’s crash that involved a lowboy trailer carrying two excavators crashing into the overpass, I-95 is closed in both directions causing major tie up for motorists on Friday.

Northbound I-95 is still closed as officials work to on the damage to the bridge. Traffic is backed up over 5 miles long.

The most recent crash happened around 12:30 p.m.

Injuries are unknown at this time.
