Cadore is a legend at Titusville High School (THS) where he was a member of the 1982 and 1983 football state champions, amassing 1,573 all-purpose yards in his senior year with 14 touchdowns, a conference-leading 10.4 yards per carry, 23 yards per reception and a 23.6 yards average per kick-off return.

That remarkable season resulted in Cadore being named to the All-State, All-Central Florida and All-Conference teams, and for his leadership and work ethic, his teammates and coaches voted him the Terrier’s football MVP.

An athlete for all seasons, he also excelled at basketball and track.

Cadore continued his football career at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) where in 1987 he set the FCS championship record for yards gained on kickoff returns in a game with 232 return yards against Louisiana-Monroe, in 1988 he set the school season kick-off return record with a 30 yards per kick-off return average, and finished his collegiate career with over 2,350 all-purpose yards.

He was also the recipient of the EKU prestigious Roy Kidd Award which recognizes an athlete for his accomplishments on and off the field.

In 1989, Cadore was drafted by the New Orleans Saints, but, unfortunately, sustained an injury and never played in the NFL.

He did come back to play professional football for one year in 1991 with the Montreal Machine of the World League of American Football where he placed second in the league for kick returns.

Reflecting on his football career, Cadore said, “I love the game of football because it taught me so much about life.”

His selection to the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame recognizes his remarkable athletic prowess as a high school and college gridiron star, but Mike Cadore’s award-winning list of accomplishments as a community leader and civil servant is every bit as impressive as his performances on the field.

As public safety coordinator for Eastern Florida State College, Cadore supervises the basic recruit academies, along with other public safety criminal justice programs, helping to train the next generation of law enforcement heroes.

He remains a police reservist with the Rockledge Police Department, where he served as community services coordinator.

His distinguished law enforcement record includes serving as director of crime prevention for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, as a probation officer with the Brevard Criminal Justice Services and as a correctional officer with the county sheriff’s office.

“I am a public servant,” said Cadore.“If you don’t serve your community now, don’t expect your community to serve you later.”

He is also a devoted family man, married to high school sweetheart Cornelia for 24 years. Son Michael Jr. is a civil affairs specialist with the U.S. Army Reserve, older daughter Courtney is at Florida A&M, where she studies sports medicine and is a cheerleader.

The baby of the family, Cierra, is an honor student at Rockledge High School and is active in soccer and track.

Giving back to the community has always been his philosophy.

Cadore, who earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Corrections & Administration of Justice from EKU, and a master’s in management and leadership from Webster University, was appointed to the Brevard County Housing Authority in 2013 by Governor Rick Scott.

He considers himself blessed to have a strong spiritual faith and a supportive family.

“My Mom and Dad always encouraged me and made sure I thanked God daily for allowing me to play the game, get a good education and always serve others. My wife always encouraged me and believed in me academically and athletically. My oldest brother Jeff took the time to teach me the fundamentals of football. My family has always told me I was special and loved.”
