20-Foot Sailing Vessel Overturns in High Winds On Banana River, Four Sailors Swim to Shore

National Weather Service in Melbourne had issued a High Wind Alert, Small Craft Advisory

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue crews responded to a 20-foot overturned sailing vessel in the Banana River near the State Road 528 on Sunday afternoon about 2 p.m.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, four adult occupants made it to shore safely and refused treatment and transport by ambulance.

Earlier on Sunday, the National Weather Service in Melbourne had issued a High Wind Alert and a Small Craft Advisory was in effect.

The case is being referred to the State authorities for further action.
