BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Although Brevard Zoo appreciates their volunteers everyday, April 7–13 is National Volunteer Appreciation Week, so we’ve decided to highlight just how much their volunteers contribute to the Zoo and its missions.

In 2018:

  • 604 volunteers gave their time on a regular basis
  • Volunteers donated 116,000 hours
  • Volunteers saved the Zoo $2.3 million in salary
  • Volunteers made 31,000 seed sticks and 11,500 collectible conservation buttons

Volunteers play very important roles at the Zoo and contribute to a variety of different areas from kayaking and Treetop Trek to animal handling and special events.

Brevard Zoo wouldn’t be the Zoo they are today without them, so thank you to everyone who has given time back; we appreciate you!
