Florida Tech Men’s Rowing Competes in Tournament in Washington, DC This Weekend

GW Invitational is largest collegiate rowing competition in the Washington, D.C. metro area

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Florida Tech is in Washington Harbour this weekend to compete in the 31st George Washington Invitational on Friday and Saturday on the Potomac River.

The GW Invitational is the largest collegiate rowing competition in the Washington, D.C., metro area. This year’s event and features a total of 12 teams competing in 52 races over two days.

The teams will be battling it out for the Oliver T. Carr Bowl. Florida Tech finished fourth overall in the standings with 45 points a year ago. The team will be looking to improve on that result Friday afternoon.

Racing commenced with Friday’s session from 1-3 p.m. before Saturday’s morning block from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and afternoon session from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

The Panthers faced Holy Cross in session 1 on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Tech will take on Georgetown in session 2 at 7:54 a.m. on Saturday before battling the host, GW in the final session at 11:18 a.m.

The 2,000-meter buoyed racecourse begins near the Sprout Run area of the Potomac River with the finish line at Washington Harbor (3050 K Street, NW) in Georgetown.

Saturday, April 13 – Session 2
• Heat 5 – M1V8: Georgetown vs. FIT – 7:54 a.m.
• Heat 12 – M2V8: Georgetown vs. FIT – 8:36 a.m.

Saturday, April 13 – Session 3
• Heat 4 – M1V8: GW vs. FIT – 11:18 a.m.
• Heat 10 – M2V8: GW vs. FIT – 11:54 a.m.
